I don't want to show only success ideas and stories in my portfolio, so this is a failed project I had with two friends to build up a start-up (pre-AI area)

Brief

Building a better way to collaborate between coach & coachee

Together with two of my friends Selina and Felix, we wanted to start a company together to support people like us to lose weight and gain muscles. We all had to share these information with endless screenshots of different apps... so we had a start-up idea. My main responsibility was: 1. Building a simple but efficient design system with design tokens 2. Supporting Selina in the Branding experience 3. Doing User Research and competitive analysis 4. Supporting both, Selina and Felix in the implementation

Challenge

3 passionate people, no engineeren background

We all went to a coach doing that time we noticed some hard collaboration issues of simple things like sharing the progress of the training, my weight lose or even what I eat a day. We wanted to fix that with our idea. From the start, we had a challenge to get things technically done, we all came from different backgrounds. Selina from marketing, Felix from sales & management and myself from product design & branding. We decided to go with Flutterflow to build our first MVP. At the same time we started with user research and competitive analysis to build a small roadmap and to find out what our customers will need.

Final Solution

The perfect bridge between coach and apprentice

We tested and updated our MVP with coaches which were our main customer group for this idea. We also tried to consult them in getting the most important features ready for the first release. We worked both sides our, from the coaching management side to the end-customer, the coachee. It was planned that the interactions are fluent and insightful between the two user groups. Especially from the backend side did we reached our technical limits before we actually planned the final release of the product.

Results

A learning, but maybe not the end

We established besides out app already a coaching newsletter, a website and some goodies to prepare for the release. We had regular discussions and feedback round with our customers to get their thinking behind this and they helped us with the screens you see above. Starting to work on a start-up was an awesome experience for me to learn more about management, budgets and more as we put in a lot of money into this try. But we might not be finished with this one, as we all are now in the AI-area that can push the release of ideas and MVPs very quickly.

I am a strong believer in "Teamwork makes the dream work" which is essential for such a project and idea, so I am thankful for the collaboration with Felix and Selina and that they approached me to be part of this journey. When I started at RYG, was this already around 2-3 month after they actually started this project.
