Challenge

Redesigning a photography app

Over my Instagram photography account was I able to find advertising for a new growing and still small photography app. So I was looking into the app and decided to make a redesign of it. I saw the potential of the app and also liked the new concept of it to show photos completly fullscreen.

1st Iteration

User Research and user flows

Before I started to design the new front ends, I asked my photography friends in my community about their perfect photography app. At the same time I introduced them to the current app, which was live and which I wanted to redesign. After finding out that they especially where disappointed with the complex userflow for the onboarding process, I started to simplify the flow to make it simpler and more intuitive. This alone needed around 3-4 interations before the final flow was set and until I can start with the screens.

Final Solution

Translate architectural principles into design and content.

We approached Monolith’s brand as we would a building: bold geometry, deliberate proportions, and material restraint. The website became an architectural journey, with projects unfolding like sections of a plan. Editorial work sharpened their voice on sustainability and urban legacy. Together, brand and platform carried the weight of concrete and steel into digital form.
